Road trip in Johor Bahru

This is my diary of my travel in Malaysia I wrote in a notebook yesterday.

10:01 am:

My family and I take a public bus to JB. We've taken Service 160 from Jurong East Bus Interchange. However, my family and I brought the Singapore passports to produce it before we proceed. Service 160 (operated by SBS Transit) boarding berth at Jurong East Tempoary Bus Intrchange is located at berth B2.

11 am:
We reached JB when we check in the Singapore passports to enter. A access to Johor Bahru City Square is to turn left and walk until we reach JB Sentral ('JB Central' in malay).

11:35 am:
We had much time for lunch. My father locate a coffeeshop among Jalan Wong Ah Fook, where we eat rice, noodle, porridge and more. This is a picture of a menu for the drinks:

My mother had curry bee hoon/mee, my sister had kway chap, but my dad and I had duck, I also eat duck rice to keep me fit.

12:35 pm:
We traveled to GIANT Hypermarket Plentong to buy groceries back to Singapore by taxi, so I notify a cab had a radio station in Johor and Singapura when I preseted on the WALKMAN player 104.5FM.

1 pm:
We reached the hypermarket which my family and I've never been there for a while to buy groceries like our supplies.

1:30 pm:
We went into the supermarket to buy things like 3 packs in 10 pieces of century quality eggs, 1 bundle of 6 SUPER cup noodles Chicken flavour, 2 packs in 15 sachets of 40g of OLD TOWN white coffee and so much more. By the time we paid money at 1421hrs, it cost RM95.13.

2:40 pm:
We call taxi to KSL City mall to find the electronic stuffs. I remember this city has hitz.fm, 97.6FM was preseted in my entertainment devices.

3:10 pm:
We reached there to see the stuffs. We left at 1533hrs to walk until we reach Holiday Plaza to buy the footwear, passport covers and more.

5:02 pm:
We're having dinner at Pusat Penjaja Taman Sri Tebrau to order the sambal seafood, sambal vegetables and soup. Below is a picture of a hawker centre in Taman Sri Tebrau:

6:25 pm:
We take a taxi back to Johor Bahru City Square to find back the CIQ checkpoint to get back to Singapore where we check in our Singapore Passports. My sister has bought a cosmetic product for her beauty look. We had spent 8 hours being there already for holidays.

2 new contractors appointed for 3 Downtown Line Stage 2 Staions

DTL2 to be completed by mid-2016
1        Two weeks ago, the Land Transport Authority has appointed McConnell Dowell South East Asia (SEA) Private Limited and SK E&C (Singapore) to complete construction works for three Downtown Line 2 (DTL2) stations following the insolvency of the earlier contractor1.

2        McConnell Dowell (SEA) Private Limited will complete the construction of Sixth Avenue and King Albert Park stations and associated tunnels for a contract sum of approximately $254 million, while SK E&C (Singapore) will complete the construction of Tan Kah Kee station and associated tunnels for $222 million.

DTL2 expected to complete by mid-2016

3        The two contractors were selected as they have the relevant technical expertise and resources to pick up quickly and commence completion works for the three stations. LTA will work closely with the contractors to deploy more resources and manpower so that works can be expedited.  With the expedited work schedule, DTL2 is expected to be completed by mid-2016.

4       Mr Chua Chong Kheng, Deputy Chief Executive (LTA) said: “LTA’s immediate priority is to start work as soon as possible now that the new contractors are onboard. There is about 50% of works on station and tunnel construction to be completed.  We will continue to explore areas where we can expedite works to speed up the construction without compromising on the safety. We seek the continued support of residents and stakeholders in mitigating the delay so that residents can enjoy the benefits of having a station at their doorsteps at the earliest possible.”

Update on DTL2 works

5        Construction works at the other nine DTL2 stations are progressing on schedule. Excavation works at all the stations have been completed while base slab concrete works are substantially completed for most of the stations. Overall stations and tunnels are about 50% complete. All 12 stations are expected to achieve Basic Structural Completion (BSC) by 2014, following which Electrical and Mechanical works and test running of trains will be carried out.

1 Alpine Bau GmbH was awarded the contract for design and construction of the three Downtown Line stations in September 2009. On 19 June 2013, Alpine Bau GmbH filed for insolvency.

A tribute of One Singapore (Kim Huat remix)

YouTube link: http://youtu.be/CUgXCjCO3Gc (actual song starts at 30 seconds)

This time I was thinking of Kim Huat's remix of "One Singapore"*, so I decided to put up a tribute until next year's NDP and ask the crew of Backbeat Studios to pay for the voiceover recording & Voice Talent Services.

This song I arranged is to be released next year in August on Blink-947's Bandcamp page.

*This song is made on Punk-o-Matic 2 (based on a game by Evil-Dog from punk-o-matic.net).
